Radios set up in an environment with a lot of RF emissions near its receive frequency, those emissions may cause the radio to unsquelch inappropriately. This will cause any radios in an interoperability net with this radio to momentarily transmit a loud burst of noise.
Possible solutions include:
- Eliminate the RFI emission source
- Reduce transmit power of other colocated radios to be just enough to reach their repeater or cover their expected coverage area
- Modify antenna placement
- Change squelch type in the gateway from COR or VOX to VMR
